It is all about the classic excuse, we heard them before. Let’s face it Mayweather and Pacquiao did not wanted to face each other, not only they disappointed themselves but boxing fans. Each party blaming the other is lame excuse I say. I believe, only the best fighter can claim the number one spot on the best pound for pound fighter in the world. These two guys do not want to go down as second in boxing lightweight history. Instead of proving to the boxing fans who is the best, they started war of words, let’s get in the ring and then the action will speed louder.
However, that will not happen soon my friends, because Manny Pacquiaco is fighting against Joshua Clottey whereas Mayweather is fighting against the veteran Shane Mosley. I know, I know, this I did not imagined but what I can say, welcome to the boxing world.
Pacquiao will be defending his welterweight title, he is on his best after he out performed three time world champion Miguel Cotto. He also at his career high by becoming first person to win seven titles in different weight divisions. He had won his last three world championships fights by way of knockout. His knockout victories over Cotto and Hatton made him the 2009 pay-per-view king, exceeding two million buys combined.
Joshua Clottey, is from Ghana, now fighting out of Bronx, NY. He won the International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight title in 2008 by defeating three-time world champion Zab Judah. He also showed his best performance when he became victories over two-division world champion Diego Corrales and undefeated contender Richard Gutierrez and a close decision lose to world champion Antonio Margarito. In his last fight Clottey lost a controversial split decision to defending WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden. Clottey has record of 35-3, 21 Kos, he is currently world-rated No. 1 by the WBO and No. 4 by the World Boxing Association (WBA). The fight is on March 13th, 2010.
